Our Micro Bat Control Services

Micro Bat Removal Services

Triangle Wildlife Removal & Pest Control, Inc. provides bat exclusion, guano cleanup, attic sanitization, and bat house installation for homes across Micro, North Carolina. We use one-way exclusion devices that let bats leave on their own but block them from getting back inside. Once the colony is gone, we seal every entry point so bats stay out for good.

North Carolina law protects bats as non-game animals, so killing or trapping them is not allowed. Exclusion is the only legal removal method, and exclusion work is restricted during the maternity season from May 1 through July 31, when flightless pups may be inside the roost. Every step of our bat work follows state regulations and NWCOA Bat Standards.

Our Micro wildlife removal services cover all of Micro and the surrounding eastern Johnston County area. We offer free bat inspections for Micro homeowners. Micro sits along US-301 near Kenly in a rural agricultural setting with wooded lots, old farmhouses, and open farmland, and bats thrive in this kind of landscape.

We carry $5 million in general liability insurance on every job. We are NWCOA members and the exclusive animal removal provider endorsed by Wildlife Welfare Inc., a 501(c)(3) based in Apex, North Carolina.

Health Risks From Bats in Micro

Bats are the leading source of rabies transmission to humans in the United States. A bat bite can be so small you might not notice it, which is why the CDC recommends seeking medical attention if you wake up in a room with a bat or find one near a child or pet. Rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms appear.

Bat droppings carry a fungus called Histoplasma capsulatum. When dried guano is disturbed, the spores become airborne and can cause histoplasmosis, a lung infection. The CDC and NIOSH guidance on histoplasmosis warns that large accumulations in attics are especially dangerous if you stir them up during cleaning or renovation work.

Bat bugs are parasites that look almost identical to bed bugs. They feed on roosting bats, but once bats are removed, the bugs migrate into living spaces looking for a new host. A proper cleanup after exclusion eliminates bat bugs along with the guano.

Bats in Micro, NC

North Carolina is home to 17 bat species. Nine of those hold some level of conservation status, and four are federally listed as endangered. The NC Wildlife Resources Commission tracks populations statewide and sets the rules for how bats can be managed.

The big brown bat and the little brown bat are the two species most likely to roost inside buildings. Big brown bats are especially common in attics because they tolerate temperature swings well. Colonies can range from a handful of bats to several hundred.

Bats can squeeze through a gap as small as 3/8 of an inch. Around Micro, the older farmhouses and agricultural buildings along US-301 often have gaps at rooflines, gable vents, and where siding meets fascia boards. Wooded lots nearby give bats easy access to insects and water, making these properties prime targets for roosting colonies.

Signs of Bats in Your Home

Bat colonies can live in an attic for years before a homeowner notices. Here are the most common signs to watch for.

  • Guano accumulation. Bat droppings are small, dark pellets that pile up below roosting spots. They crumble easily and contain shiny insect fragments, which sets them apart from mouse droppings.
  • Staining at entry points. Bats leave dark, oily rub marks around the gaps they use to enter and exit. These brown or black smudges build up over time and are hard to miss once you know what to look for.
  • Squeaking and scratching at dusk. Bats become active around sunset and make high-pitched squeaking sounds as they wake up. You may also hear scratching or rustling noises in the walls or ceiling.
  • Bats flying from the roofline at dusk. Step outside about 20 minutes after sunset and watch your roofline. If bats are roosting in your attic, you will see them drop out from gaps and fly off to feed.
  • Strong ammonia smell. A large accumulation of guano and urine produces a sharp ammonia odor. If you notice this smell coming from your attic or walls, you likely have a sizable colony.

Bat Exclusion and Guano Cleanup

We offer free bat inspections for any home in the Micro, NC area. Derek Cline, our staff zoologist with 15 years of field experience, leads the inspection process and builds a removal plan specific to your property.

Exclusion starts with installing one-way devices at every active entry point. Bats fly out at dusk to feed and cannot return. We cannot perform exclusion between May 1 and July 31 because flightless pups would be trapped inside. If you call during maternity season, we will schedule your exclusion for August when the young can fly.

After the colony is fully excluded, we permanently seal all entry points with professional-grade materials. Our sealing work comes with a limited lifetime warranty, so you are covered if bats find a way back in.

We also handle full guano removal, attic sanitization, and bat bug treatment. If you want to keep bats on your property for insect control without them living in your attic, we install bat houses in locations where colonies are most likely to relocate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you remove bats from my attic during the summer?

Not between May 1 and July 31. During this maternity season, young bats cannot fly and would be trapped inside if we sealed the entry points. We can inspect your home during the summer and schedule the exclusion work for August once the pups are old enough to leave on their own.

How do one-way exclusion devices work?

A one-way device is a tube or netting installed over the gap where bats enter and exit. Bats can push through and fly out to feed at night, but the design prevents them from getting back in. After several days, the entire colony has left and we remove the devices and seal the openings permanently.

Is bat guano dangerous?

Yes. Bat guano can contain spores of the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum. When dried droppings are disturbed, the spores go airborne and can cause a respiratory infection called histoplasmosis. Professional cleanup with proper protective equipment is the safest way to handle guano removal.

Do you offer free bat inspections?

Yes. We provide free bat inspections for homes in Micro and the surrounding Johnston County area. One of our technicians will check your attic, roofline, and exterior for signs of bat activity and give you a written estimate on the spot.

Our Wildlife Removal Services

Triangle Wildlife Removal handles every step from inspection through removal, exclusion, damage repair, and attic restoration. Below are the most common wildlife problems we solve in Raleigh homes.

Bat Removal

Bats in your attic create health hazards from guano buildup and carry rabies risk. We perform full exclusion using one-way doors during the legal window of August through April, then seal every entry point on the structure.

Flying Squirrel Removal

Flying squirrels enter attics through gaps as small as a quarter and are most active at night during cold months. We trap, remove, and seal every construction gap at the roofline to keep them out permanently.

Squirrel Removal

Gray squirrels chew through fascia, soffits, and wiring to nest in attics, creating fire hazards and structural damage. We remove active squirrels with live traps and exclude them by sealing every entry point on the structure.

Raccoon Removal

Raccoons tear open soffits, rip through roof decking, and contaminate attic insulation with feces carrying raccoon roundworm. We trap and remove raccoons humanely, repair the damage they caused, and seal the structure to prevent re-entry.

Rodent Control

Rats and mice enter through pipe chases, A/C line penetrations, and foundation vents, contaminating insulation and chewing wiring. We trap and remove active rodents inside the structure and seal every exterior entry point to stop the cycle.

Bird Control

European starlings and house sparrows nest inside exhaust vents, dryer vents, and attic spaces, blocking airflow and creating fire hazards. We remove nesting material, install bird-proof vent covers, and clean contaminated ductwork.

Snake Removal

Snakes enter crawlspaces, garages, and basements through foundation gaps and pipe penetrations. We safely remove the snake, identify the species, and seal entry points to keep them from coming back.

Wildlife Exclusion

Wildlife exclusion seals every vulnerable opening on your home to prevent animals from getting in. We inspect the full structure, identify active entries and potential weak points, and install commercial-grade barriers backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Why Homeowners Choose Triangle Wildlife Removal

Bat removal has been a core part of our work since Tad Bassett founded this company in 1990. He's been running it full-time since January 1996 and still answers the phone himself. That kind of continuity is rare in this industry, and it's a big part of why customers keep calling back. In a detailed expert interview published by the Regency Park Partnership, a community resource serving over 244,000 Nextdoor neighbors across the Triangle, Tad covered everything from seasonal bat behavior and NC exclusion regulations to disease risks like histoplasmosis and homeowner prevention tips.

All technicians on our team are Ridge-Guard Certified, Bird Barrier Certified, and certified in advanced metal fabrication for bat exclusion and damage repairs. Triangle Wildlife Removal is the largest installer of Ridge-Guard on the East Coast, a distinction the company has held for approximately five years. Ridge-Guard is one of the most effective tools for sealing ridge vents, one of the most common bat entry points on residential rooflines. Every bat exclusion job is backed by a limited lifetime warranty - if bats get back through a sealed entry point, we come back to address it at no charge.
